Knicks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Sunday, January 29, 2012
Here is where it gets precarious for Mike D'Antoni. It's not enough that he's in the final year of his contract and the team owner already made him play this one out after declining contract extension talks. It's not enough that the team is playing without a floor general-type point guard, which is the most critical element of his vaunted offense. It's not enough that the Knicks, after a 97-84 loss in Houston on Saturday are now in a 1-9 tailspin after a 6-4 start. But he had to see a ghost from the past that haunts the present of this franchise, Isiah Thomas, hovering around the team's bench in Miami on Jan. 27. Thomas, the former team president who D'Antoni succeeded as coach in 2008, is the head coach at Florida International University in Miami.
